Acoustic Bat Blitz

October 20, 2022(CT)6:00 pm - October 27, 2022(CT)6:00 pm

If you have a bat detector and way to identify which species you detected, how about doing something fun and productive with it to support bat conservation?

Simply deploy the detector overnight somewhere: your backyard, your favorite park, your field site, at your office….. or even walk around with for an hour or two starting 30 minutes after sunset.

Identify the species you detect. Even if you think you’ll get no detections, try it anyway: you might be surprised and knowing where bats aren’t active is also important and interesting.

Report the results using this form: https://forms.gle/eCwT6AHLfkdNJLKK6 this should only take a couple minutes.

The results will be assembled over at https://batamp.databasin.org/ and we will use https://visualize.batamp.databasin.org/ to start reporting out where we detect species on October 27 (during #batweek) to get some facts about bats out to the public.

Record bats on as many nights and sites as you want and try to submit results after each night.
