Bat Festival

Kartchner Caverns State Park is excited and welcomes everyone to our first Kartchner Caverns Bat Festival!
Bat Fest will be held from 9 am to 4:00 pm!!

We invite you to come celebrate with us as we share bat conservation awareness and take part in batty fun festivities. Our family-friendly Bat Festival will have activities and crafts for the kids, enjoy a book reading by one of our special guests, special presentation learning what a bat biologist does, come sit in and speak with Bat Experts from Arizona who are giving presentations, and hang out with the organizations that help the bat conservation here in Arizona.

Guests Speakers:

9 am Kathy Gerst Ph.D Ecologist from Bat Conservation International
Presentation covers what and how BCI does to help bats
How Bat Conservation International Helps Bats in the Southwest

11 am Amy Kravitz, biologist and bat rehabber from Northern AZ Bat Rescue and director of animal care at Grand Canyon Deer Farm
Presentation covers how she became a bat rehabber and what it entails
Bat Woman to the Rescue

1 pm Debbie Buecher, wildlife biologist and bat specialist from Buecher Biological Consulting
Presentation will cover the White Nose issue and how New Mexico is the 40th state with bats dying in the US
The Threat of White Nose Syndrome to Western Bats

3 pm Angela McIntire, wildlife biologist and bat specialist from Arizona Game and FIsh
Presentation will cover projects and efforts AZ Game and Fish is involved in here in Arizona to help the bats.

Also included will be an informal presentation from Angela McIntire
How Bat Biologists Catch and Study Bats
An informal presentation about what a bat biologist does and how they study bats, and how the studies relate and help the bats.
