Virtual Book Club for Educators: #BatWeek
October 26 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
The Virtual Book Club is a place for educators of all types and grade levels to get together and chat about science and literacy, usually around a theme in conservation. We read the same book(s) and then meet on Zoom to share our thoughts. What makes this book club different, however, is our focus on education. We don’t just take a look at the books, their meaning and themes. We also discuss ways that we could bring the books into our instruction. What can our students gain from these books? What activities could supplement the books in the classroom? This is a time for teachers to connect with teachers over great books and enriching discussion.
During this session we help celebrate #BatWeek by looking at two popular children’s books about bats: Stellaluna and Bats at the Beach. Participants should read both books PRIOR to our meeting and be ready to share their thoughts and ideas. Both books should be available to order and get at your favorite bookstore or library. Recordings of the books being read aloud will be shared with registered participants, as well.
Following the program, participants will receive a certificate for one hour of continuing education professional development credit. Please check with your state or district to determine if it will be accepted.
PLEASE NOTE: THE TIMES FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE FOR ARIZONA.
Participation in the book club is free. However, registration is required. To register, please complete the Zoom registration form found at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMsf-6srzgoG9ZTyx_4EkWPJPY-eE6kQwrw
