Whiskeytown Bat Chat

October 28(CT)8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

“Holy Bat Week!” – Robin
What would the season be without images of black cats, monsters, and, of course, bats? Bats are more than Halloween decorations or a vampire’s method of quick escape; they are an important part of our ecosystem. Many of these amazing mammals make their home here at Whiskeytown and on October 28, 2022 at 6:30 pm, you can learn all about them at Whiskeytown’s Bat Chat! We will be hosting an interpretive program to learn the basics, a specialist talk about White Nose Syndrome, and will be using SonoBat Live software to record bat calls. If conditions and enough certified bat handlers are present, we also hope to mist net some bats!
This program is presented in partnership with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and the National Park Service’s Klamath Inventory and Monitoring Network.
Park Entrance passes are required and can be purchased at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center or online at Recreation.gov.
