Temptation Plantains (Plátano en Tentación)

Temptation Plantains

Ingredients:
Ripe plantains (bat-pollinated)
Brown sugar
Dry wine

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients and cook until the sugar mixes with the plantain, acquiring a brown color and caramelizing.

Additional information:
This dish is very well-known throughout Cuba.  Bat species involved is the  Monophyllus redmani or the Leach’s Single Leaf Bat also known as Greater Antillean long-tongued bat that feeds on a wide variety of food items including pollen, nectar, fruit and insects.

Ingredientes:
plátano maduro
azúcar parda
vino seco

Preparación:
Todo se mezcla y se cocina hasta que la azúcar se mezcle con el plátano adquiriendo un color dorado y de aspecto acaramelado. Este plato es muy cubano. Papel de los murciélagos en los ingredientes de la receta:
El murciélago,  Monophyllus redmani, ayuda polinizar y dispersar las semillas del plátano.
